Andrew Speedie – Managing Director

Andrew Speedie

Andrew has over 15 years Health and Safety expertise in the engineering, manufacturing & construction sectors. Before founding Acorn EHS, he had a successful career working in various management roles for a structural steel fabrication & installation manufacturer in South Africa. Andrew is also a qualified Trainer and member of a number of professional bodies, including British Safety Council, Association of First Aiders & The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health.

Sue Hughes – Senior Administrator

Sue joined Acorn EHS in February 2012 and has brought a wealth of management and accounting principles to the organization. Sue is responsible for the day-to-day administration and looks after our candidate’s administration and support.

Tim Ford – Senior Trainer and Consultant

Tim Ford

Tim is a Senior Lecture for H&S Certificates. He is a specialist in health and safety and risk management with broad ranging training experience across the full range of IOSH, NEBOSH, CIEH and CITB courses. As a practicing Health and Safety Practitioner and an accomplished Trainer he brings a unique perspective to his training sessions. In addition his extensive experience within Industry he provides valuable insight as to what is needed to meet the required standards.

Peter Dale – Senior Project Engineer

Peter Dale

Peter has over 4 decades experience in the engineering, manufacturing & the construction sectors. Before joining Acorn EHS, he had a successful career working in various management roles in the Production, Processing & Treatment of British Steel as well in structural Steel Fabrication & Installation. As an effective Project Manager Peter has a wealth of experience in health and safety in the workplace.

George Gelston

George has joined the company in March 2013, he currently holds the NEBOSH General and Fire Certificates and is constantly educating himself, including an up and coming NEBOSH construction course to aid in the delivery to our clients. George served in the British Army until deciding to settle down in Swindon with his family where he joined the ACORN EHS family. George is an experienced trainer delivering mulitple courses across the British Army and health and safety advice to the senior persons within the organisation. George is gaining experience through consultancy and training with the company and its associates.

Tom Sheriffi – Environmental and Energy Specialist

Tom is an environmental consultant with extensive experience in areas such as Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), Waste and Energy auditing, Energy performance certification for commercial buildings and Internal auditing.  He is an excellent communicator and project manager that is able to understand both the strategic and tactical level issues. Tom is our leading consultant in Environmental Management Systems and Energy at Acorn EHS. Tom has working in a number of blue chip companies including BMW UK, DHL Express, BOC Gas, Oxford Brookes University & the Heritable Trust.

Ian Smith – Health, Safety and Fire Specialist

Ian is a highly qualified Health and Safety trainer across a broad range of subject areas. His experience as a practitioner and consultant across a number of sectors including education, local government, manufacturing and engineering sectors ensures he balances the theory with practical, real world examples.

Steve Foster – GradIOSH – Health and Safety (Construction Specialist)

Steve is highly qualified health and safety professional with experience in a variety of workplaces having worked on major infrastructure projects such as International Airports. Steve is currently working towards Chartered status with IOSH.  Steve offers a sensible approach to Health and Safety as well as understanding how to implement a practical Health and safety so that it is a benefit not a hinderance. Steve brings this same philosophy to his training.

Steve Trafford – CMIOSH – Trainer / Consultant

Steve looks after a varied portfolio of clients and carries out extensive safety training, site inspections and  safety audits etc. as a Health and Safety Consultant / Trainer. Steve works as a retained competent adviser for several organisations mainly specialising in Safe Working at Height for Scaffolding and Roofing companies he produces safety, environmental auditing, risk assessments, accident investigation and other relevant reports, Steve has achieved the ROSPA Senior Audit Accreditation and carries out various safety audits for insurance providers.

Liz Gardner

Liz Brings clam and professionalism to her training. Liz is fully qualified to deliver CIEH Level 2 Award in – Food Safety; Practical Food Safety; Fire Safety Principles; Health & Safety, the Principles of Manual Handling, Principles of Risk Assessment and the Principles of COSHH. Liz is also our lead First Aid Instructor and Assessor and delivers our First Aid, AED; Paediatric and Emergency First Aid Courses.
